Dr Bijay Kumar Sahu is a technology, intellectual property, innovation management professional in academics, training and profession with more than  two decades of research & work experience and earned his MPhil & PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi specialized in “IPRs and Technological Capabilities with Special References Biotechnology Innovation in India”. Dr Sahu was recipient of Royal Danida Fellowship on Innovation Strategy and IPR Commercialization and received his Executive Diploma from Copenhagen Business School (CBS). Denmark.  Presently, Dr Sahu, is heading Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (IPFC) & Technology & Innovation Support Centre, National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), Govt of India at Innovation Valley, Vishakhapatnam, Dr Sahu received National IP Awards from Govt of India as the best Technology Innovation Support Centre in contributing IP & Innovation for the year 2020. Dr Sahu also received many recognition and awards like  IP Excellence and Golden Pillar Award from World IP Forum (WIPF) for IP Education & Training and innovation management; Global IP Convention Awards by GIPC during 12th Global IP Convention  and ASSOCHAM & IPTSE Award respectively for the promotion of IP facilitation and innovation management.   He was considered as 100 IP Leader from India by World IP Forum for the year 2018. Dr Sahu was invited as a key note speaker of United Nation (UN-EDTECH 2018) on “IP, Innovation in Educational Curriculum”.  He has been facilitating and managing intellectual property (patents, trademark, design, copyright and other) of various universities, startups, MSMEs, PSUs in the country. Dr Sahu is pioneering in transferring and commercializing many technologies to various startups, MSMEs and industries. Dr Sahu initiated many academias and industry innovation collaboration programme and executed more than 100 MOU/MOA with various universities, academia and bilateral organisations in the country and abroad. He participated, coordinated and organized so far more than 500 national and international seminars, workshops and conference on IP, innovation and technology transfer & cooperation in the country and provided more than one thousand lectures on entrepreneurship, innovation, IP, technology commercialization and management. He is also managing the IP and Innovation of various PSUs.  Dr Sahu coordinated a Govt of India Taskforce Study under DSIR on “Innovation Policies in China, Korea and Taiwan: Implications for India”. He is a Mentor and nodal Officer for IP of STPI, Govt of India New Generation Entrepreneurships Programme (NGEP). Dr Sahu is also Adjunct Professor/ and TBIs Mentor of various universities and academia in India & Abroad. Dr Sahu is also member of AICTE- Institutional Innovation Council of various engineering college in the country. Dr Sahu advised and provides mentoring support on start-up activities and establishment of innovation centre &   part of various Committees and assignment of Govt of India in Department of Science & Technology (DST), Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR) , and Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to Govt of India, STPI NGEP and many central and state government initiatives & programme. He has been part of PhD examiners of various universities and academies. Dr Sahu is also Associate Editor of National STI Magazine “Invention Intelligence”. Dr Sahu participated as a jury/committee member for innovation translation, start-ups, R&D funding to many Corporate and Govt of India initiatives. He is married and has only daughter. He is fond of travel, reading and social &community services. Recently Dr Sahu was nominated as WIPO Green Focal Point from NRDC India for internationalising Indian Green technology for transfer and commercialisation globally under UN-WIPO platform for SDGs.
